Personal Gains

This is a “pat myself on the back” kinda post…and one that is well deserved.

I haven’t written about my struggles and weight gains and losses yet. I’ll share those stories with you another time.

Yesterday, my best friends and I (including my blog-mates, Dorit and Val), went bridesmaids dress shopping. Exactly 4 years and 10 days ago I got married. On that day, I wore a size 22 wedding dress. Yesterday, a size 8. I can’t explain that moment. So many emotions. When I was shopping for my wedding, I was hoping and praying that something would fit me and yesterday, the possibilities were endless.

You all know my Husband joined this health journey with me. Today is six weeks since he’s started and he has lost exactly 19 pounds. Hard work does pay off!

What about you guys? I really want to hear your stories. Tell me your accomplishments. It doesn’t even have to be weight loss related! Did you have a goal to run a marathon and you finally did it? Did you finally fit into a pair of jeans you’ve been trying to wear for months? Anything…We all deserve a pat on the back once in a while.

    1. Thank you so much ❤ It def is a big difference. The one thing I stress the most is how quality of life changes. Life is so much better and easier. I was never an outdoorsy person or a person that would park their car a bit further on the lot to get a few extra steps in or one to walk to the store if its only a few items I needed. Since losing all this weight, all I want to do is move move move. I hate being indoors and sitting. Gets me so anxious.

  1. I was fat or overweight all my life – hitting a high of 140+ pounds at 5′ tall and at age 46. In one fell swoop I got rid of 240+ pounds of ugly fat – an ex husband and my 35+ lbs. The ex was harder to get rid of then the fat – lol… They say success is the best revenge. And it is NEVER TOO LATE TO CHANGE. I am never going back to that sad unhealthy overweight girl again.

  2. Wow! What an inspiration you are!

I was 260 lbs a year ago, with high blood pressure and all the symptoms of metabolic syndrome. After a consultation with a bariatric surgeon in July 2015, I decided that weight loss surgery wasn’t the right fit for me and that I would make concrete lifestyle changes. Today I’m at 205! I still have a ways to go, but I’m just as motivated as ever and I’m optimistic about my success! Oh, and my BP is normal! 🙂

    1. Look who’s talking. YOU are an inspiration. It takes a lot of courage, patience, dedication, time and all that other “fun” stuff to commit to a lifestyle change. Look how much you’ve accomplished in a year. So amazing. Hello! YOU should be featured in one of our Transformation posts! I am so unbelievably happy and proud of you ❤

      1. Awww…shucks. ::blush:: lol. Thanks. I did see your call for transformation stories. I guess I just feel like, since I still have 50 or so pounds more to lose, I don’t consider myself “transformed” yet. But it’s also likely that I’m too hard on myself. 🙂

      2. way to hard on yourself. i always weigh myself in “dogs”… my dog weighs 10 pounds… every time I lost 10 pounds, I’d say to my husband “I lost 1 Marty”, “I lost 2 Marty’s”…. To date, I’ve lost 10 Marty’s. I would love to lose one more… 11 Marty’s total LOL
