How to Find Good Food

Yesterday I wrote a post about decent fast food options. I know I know, I totally suck at Fitness.

If you’ll find it in your heart to forgive me, I’ll do my best to restore some balance to the universe with this post.

How? By sharing a really awesome website I came across yesterday. It’s called EatWellGuide.org.

EatWellGuide.org landing page

The premise: EatWellGuide.org helps you locate local healthy options. All you do is put in your Zip Code, town, or City.

Why I like It:

  • I’ve been struggling to find a local Farmer’s Market. Even though I live just outside the city, I live just outside the city. So it’s a schlep to buy food there and bring it over on pubic transport.
  • It’s easier to use than Google Maps because the search is narrower.

Potential Downfall:

  • It seems like it may be focused on certain geographical areas, but I’m not 100% sure.
  • Try it out and see if it works for you!

  1. Nice find! Though I should note that when I plunk in my location, it points me to something in Orlando, Florida 😦

Luckily, in the Canadian bread basket, we have no end in options for locally grown fair. There are even organic producers who will deliver right to your door! http://www.myfarmersmarket.com/en/

    Balance restored!

      1. It’s local, yes. I used the service for a number of years before I had room enough for my own garden. The veggies were high quality, and wild meats were effin’ delicious!

If you don’t have a service like this available in your area I’d be surprised! I don’t live in a very densely populated part of Canada, and this is 1 of 3 local companies that provide this service.

        Happy hunting!

  2. That site is a great thing. I am lucky enough to live so far out the city that I can buy at the farmers’ house directly 🙂
Which is a good thing because I don ‘t know such a site for our side of the pond 😉

    1. That’s great. Being able to buy local produce is so wonderful, and some day I’d like to grow some of my own 😀

But I’ll keep sharing any sites I find, hopefully this one will eventually expand to cover more territory.
